Innovative Education Grants, funded by TIE Colorado, is providing $10,000 total funding for project grants to improve student achievement through the integration of technology into K-12 classrooms, a school, or district. Applicants could include Classroom Teachers, Information Technology, Media, and Library specialists, etc. Teams are encouraged to apply. They could consist of other specialty areas, i.e. gifted and talented, STEM, STEAM, literacy, the arts, etc. Grants will be awarded in the amount of $500 to $2,500.

Eligibility: Grants may be awarded under the following conditions: 

1. Individual Classroom projects that are technology based and will be accomplished in a public or private school classroom setting in a Colorado school – Applicants must be an educator currently teaching in the classroom. Applicants must have support of the School Principal, Headmaster, or equivalent position within the school’s structure.

2. Public or Private School-wide projects that are technology based and will be accomplished in a Colorado based school – Applicants must be a school administrator with support from the school district or organization’s administration, the school board Chair, President, or equivalent position within the school’s structure.

3. Multi-school, Multi-district, or K-12 Educational Organization projects that are technology based and must paired with an institution of higher education.

4. Collaborative projects – Grants may be made in collaboration with other public institutions, non-profit institutions or educational institutions so long as the responsible applicant is a K-12 public or private school or district in Colorado.

5. Matching or in-kind funds are encouraged.

Important Information:

1. Funds are awarded to the school or organization’s grants department. Funds cannot be awarded to individuals.

2. Funds cannot be used for grant administration purposes or IT services – The value of these services can count towards in-kind matching funds.

3. Funds can be used for clerical work or actual service provided for the project.

4. A private corporation can be a partner as long as a qualified school organization is administering the grant.

5. Upon completion of the grant project you will be expected to submit evidence of the project’s impact.

Required Documentation:

1. If awarded you will need to verify non-profit status by providing:

  • *Charter School – need charter
  • *Private School – proof of tax exempt status
  • *All organizations applying – need Federal Identification number and or Tax Exempt number 


March 10 – Call for Proposals via online application

April 15 – Online application deadline (midnight)

May 15 – Awards announced
