The Colorado Legacy Foundation will host the 2013 Healthy Schools and Integration Summit on April 17th, which will bring together educational leaders and stakeholders throughout the state to learn, promote, and celebrate advancing academic achievement efforts. The event will be held from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel at 1550 Court Place, Denver.

This daylong event includes the Healthy School Champions Recognition Breakfast, which will recognize up to 32 of Colorado’s healthiest schools. This year’s event expands on the success of the Healthy School Champions Score Card, a voluntary program to assess and recognize best practices in schools adopting and implementing a coordinated approach to health and wellness strategies and will again allow us to celebrate April as Healthy Schools Month! The breakfast event will feature 2011 MacArthur Fellow, Award-Winning Harvard Economist, Education Activist, and collaborator on the Bestselling book Freakonomics, Dr. Roland Gerhard Fryer, Jr.

The daylong event also includes the Fifth Annual Legacy Luncheon featuring American bioethicist, author of Healthcare, Guaranteed, and the Diane and Robert Levy University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Ezekiel “Zeke” Emanuel.

The Legacy Luncheon is among the highest profile education events in Colorado and will attract as many as 1,500 thought leaders and decision makers in politics, business, and advocacy and will draw local, state, and national media attention.

The Summit will be comprised of sixteen workshop sessions, within which local and national Health and Wellness experts and the implementers of The Colorado Integration Project will provide best practices and tangible tools for advancing the professional growth of educators and academic achievement for all students.

Join us as we continue to showcase and bridge the critical link between effective educators, healthy, safe, and welcoming schools and increasing academic achievement for all Colorado students.

The Healthy Schools and Integration Summit is generously sponsored by the Colorado Health Foundation and the Gates Foundation.  For more information and registration (limited space so registration ends March 29th), please to to
