History Colorado is celebrating the people and the places of one our most cherished spots in the We ❤ Rocky Mountain National Park exhibit, now open. • Search for resources in the special collections of Colorado Historic Newspapers, History Colorado, and the Library of Congress.
  • Use the National Register of Historic Landmarks to support literacy in the classroom.
  • Learn how to engage students in conversations about our state, the preservation of our historic landmarks, our parks and water.

Integrating the Social Studies Across Colorado History Teacher Workshop, 8:30-4:30 at the Museum of Western Colorado, Grand Junction, CO

Join us for professional development designed to enhance your skill in teaching the core concepts and tools from history, geography, economics and civics that are emphasized in Colorado’s 4th grade Social Studies Standards and Summative Social Studies Assessment. Four leading social studies organizations are collaborating to bring this day-long workshop to elementary teachers. An expert in each subject area will help you understand how each discipline views the world and, more specifically, Colorado. Presentations will blend content and pedagogy and will share resources you can take back to your classroom. This workshop is meant to help you prepare for the 4th grade Colorado Summative Social Studies Assessment. – For more information and registration, please go to: http://www.historycolorado.org/event/integrating-social-studies-across-colorado-history-teacher-workshop#sthash.v6gcsBni.dpuf
