DesignEDU 2.0, hosted by The Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) and the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), will bring together forward-thinking K-12 educators to create innovative ideas and action plans.

Participation will consist of two full-day sessions where you will practice helping a local school use design thinking to solve a current challenge.

Session 1: Friday, October 17, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. – St. Vrain Innovation Center, 1200 South Sunset Street, Longmont, CO, 80501

Participants will:

  • Understand the design challenge, interview key stakeholders, discover underlying needs, and develop initial ideas, and
  • Reflect on and develop plans to design research in their own context.

Session 2: Wednesday, October 29, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. – St. Vrain Innovation Center, 1200 South Sunset Street, Longmont, CO, 80501

Participants will:

  • Test ideas with actual stakeholders and refine/redevelop the ideas to better meet user needs, and
  • Develop plans for using the tools from these workshops in their own school setting.

Session 3: Thursday, January 22, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. (tentative) – Location is TBD

Participants will:

  • Hear back from the “client team” on progress implementing the solution(s) designed by the group,
  • Reflect on how they have used what they learned through the workshops in their own context, and
  • Be invited to apply for mini-grants to launch their ideas.
