One of Colorado’s greatest opportunities for 6th-12th grade students is the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF).  This year, the fair will be held April 10-12, 2014 at the Hilton Hotel, Fort Collins.  (Usually, the fair is held in the Lory Student Center at Colorado State University but student center is under construction this year.)  Approximately 320 6-8 (Junior Division) and 9-12 (Senior Division) grade student finalists from 13 Regional Science Fairs compete every year for many amazing opportunities.   The Regional Science Fairs are always looking for volunteers to either be judges of the projects entered in their regional fairs or help at their science fairs.  Please feel free to contact the regional fair directors for more information and ways you can help and support the CSEF.

For all of the students, competing in the science fair provides them with the chance to experience the process of deciding what kind of project they will do, what category they would like to compete in, and the process of doing the project and creating journals.  The students get a chance to make connections with people who are involved with their area of interest either in academia or industry, which often become long-term contacts and possible internships.  Finally, all students have to present their projects both visually and verbally, which is a great start for all students whatever field they finally choose.  Please take some time to check out the amazing students and their projects who are past winners on the CSEF website.

To volunteer at the CSEF, please check out the Volunteer page.  If you are interested in participating as a Grand Awards Judge at the CSEF, please click here for information on judging and to sign up as a new Grand Awards Judge, click here.  For additional information, please feel free to contact Nancy Glissmann at GrandAwardsCSEF@gmail.com.
