Nao is a humanoid robot built by the French company, Aldebaran. Over the past four NaoPIC(2)years, Aldebaran has sponsored a competition in Europe for high school students called the Nao Challenge in which students program Nao for specific situations. This year’s challenge is about how the Nao can help out at home. This spring, Aldebaran will hold this competition in the United States for the first time. The Innovation Center for the St. Vrain Valley School District will be the local host and help coordinate the Nao Challenge USA.

Teams will work on the challenges throughout the spring, and the finals will be held in Longmont, Colorado on June 27th, 2015. High schools can register teams of 35 students.

There is a fee of $49. Teams receive the software Choregraphe to work with, or they can program using languages such as Python or Java. A team does not need a Nao in order to participate. The winning team earns a Nao for its school!
